Designed to enhance proficiency in French, students can tailor the certificate to their interests with the variety of electives in literature, culture, or linguistics, or they can study abroad.</p><h2>Admission Requirements</h2><ul> <li>Students must complete the elementary French Language sequence or demonstrate proficiency in French to be admitted to the certificate. Native speakers, heritage speakers, and students who are already proficient at the intermediate level in French will substitute two 3000- or 4000- level French courses for FRE 2200 and/or FRE 2201.</li> </ul><h2>Certificate Requirements</h2><ul> <li>For degree-seeking students, certificates will be awarded only at time of degree completion.</li> </ul><h2>Prerequisite Courses</h2><ul> <li>FRE 1121C or equivalent</li> </ul>",
