    "description": "<p>The astronomy minor is designed to provide the basic fundamentals of modern astronomy by including survey courses as well as practical courses with a choice from a set of more detailed and in-depth upper-division courses.</p><h2>Minor Requirements</h2><ul> <li>A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required in all courses used to satisfy the minor.</li> <li>Grades below \"C\" (2.0) in lower level courses are not accepted.</li> <li>At least 9 hours used in the minor must be earned at UCF within the Department of Physics.</li> </ul><h2>Prerequisite Courses</h2><ul> <li>Most courses for this minor will have prerequisites completed as a part of a student's GEP requirement, as general electives, or a student can enroll into courses with consent of instructor.</li> </ul><h2>Degree Requirements</h2><h3>Required Courses</h3> 10 Total Credits <ul><li>Complete all of the following<ul><li>Complete the following: <ul><li>AST2002 - Astronomy (3)</li></ul></li><li>Earn at least 4 credits from the following course sets: <ul><li><i>arrow_drop_down</i> PHY 2048C <ul><li>PHY2048C - General Physics Using Calculus I Studio (4)</li></ul></li><li><i>arrow_drop_down</i> PHY 2048 and 2048L <ul><li>PHY2048 - General Physics Using Calculus I (3)</li><li>PHY2048L - General Physics Using Calculus I Laboratory (1)</li></ul></li></ul></li><li>Complete at least 1 of the following: <ul><li>AST4700 - Experimental Methods in Astronomy (3)</li><li>AST4762C - Astronomical Data Analysis (3)</li></ul></li></ul></li></ul><h3>Restricted Electives</h3> 9 Total Credits <ul><li>Earn at least 9 credits from the following types of courses: 3000-level or higher AST courses, including graduate course.
