"description": "<p>This track equips students with the leadership and strategic skills needed to thrive in today’s fast-paced media industry. The program blends business fundamentals with media-specific training in areas like management, programming, sales, regulations, and digital production. Students prepare for versatile careers in broadcasting, streaming, corporate media, and emerging digital platforms.</p> <br /> <p><strong>Degree Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Students must consult with their ASC to discuss degree requirements.</li> <li>Students must achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in all UCF Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) courses taken in the major.</li> <li>All attempts of UCF NSCM courses that could meet major requirements are included in the major GPA calculation, including those taken beyond the minimum required (e.g. additional restricted electives).</li> <li>Students who change degree programs (other than from Media Production and Management Pending) and select this major must adopt the most current catalog.</li> <li>School residency requirement consists of at least 24 semester hours of regularly scheduled 3000-4000 level courses taken from the UCF Nicholson School of Communication and Media.</li> <li>Media Production and Management (MPM) majors must select their required minor from outside the Mass Media (MPM and JOU) programs and cannot take the following minors: Strategic Communication, Mass Media, Journalism Studies and Magazine Journalism. When no official minor is offered, students may complete an 18-credit-hour area of concentration approved by the Program Coordinator.</li> <li>Students seeking to change tracks from Media Management and Operations to Production or Sports Production once accepted into the major, must re-apply to the Media Production and Management major under the desired track.</li> <li>Internship credit may be used in this major with prior school permission. <ul> <li>Students may complete internships in a professional media production company or corporate operation in consultation with a Media Production and Management (MPM) faculty advisor or program coordinator.</li> <li>A maximum of four credit hours of internship may be earned in one semester.</li> <li>To receive credit for an internship, students must have a 2.5 GPA in their required major courses. Students with less than a 2.5 GPA will not be given academic internship credit.</li> <li>Summer internships are available during "C" term only.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Practicum credit may be earned in this major. Available practicums include but are not limited to: <ul> <li>RTV 3945: WUCF, open enrollment, no consent needed, counts for all 3 tracks. Not repeatable. Beneficial to students who want to intern at WUCF later. Encouraged option in first semester in the MMO Track.</li> <li>RTV 3942: UCF Athletics, Sports Track ONLY. Not Repeatable. Not required but <em>heavily</em> Consent is given upon admission to the major and it is encouraged to be taken in their first semester in the major.</li> <li>RTV 3943L: Studio New Workshop (The Charge On-Air COA Crew). Required Core for Production Track. Restricted Elective for Sports and MMO Track. Priority given to Production Track. Repeatable. Interested students should have completed Videography and Post Production, Foundations of Video Production, or New Media Technologies.</li> <li>RTV 3942L: Hitting the Field, repeatable, not required<em>. </em>Available two days per week. Students can opt to attend one day per week. Students in NSCM majors other than MPM can participate.</li> </ul> </li> <li>All prerequisites of courses taught within the College of Sciences will be enforced.</li> <li>Courses designated in 1 (General Ed Program) and 2 (Common Program Prerequisites) are usually completed in the first 60 hours.</li> </ul>",
