    "description": "<p>The Research Methods, Measurement, and Quantitative Data Analysis Graduate Certificate provides foundational coursework for students from any discipline to develop skills in research, measurement, and quantitative methods, allowing them to become a better consumer and producer of research. This certificate is a nine-credit hour credential that introduces students to the research process and prepares them with start-to-finish skills to develop a research question, conceptualize and design an empirical research study, understand test creation and appropriately select measurement instruments, use derived scores to measure the desired outcome, and rigorously analyze data and interpret results from the research using descriptive and inferential statistics.</p><p>Students earning the Research Methods, Measurement, and Quantitative Data Analysis Graduate Certificate will acquire the following skills:</p><ol> <li>identify theories, constructs, and variables</li> <li>define and delimit a research question</li> <li>explain the logic of hypothesis testing and identify appropriate analytical strategies for research strategies</li> <li>identify and apply measurement in research</li> <li>create assessment items</li> <li>calculate and interpret derived scores</li> <li>calculate and interpret item analysis procedures</li> <li>develop performance instruments</li> <li>identify and distinguish norm- and criterion-referenced tests</li> <li>identify characteristics and uses of standardized tests</li> <li>interpret standardized test scores</li> <li>identify sources of available published tests and assessments</li> <li>recognize and describe the nature and purpose of various research designs</li> <li>understand concepts of and identify and distinguish types of reliability and validity</li> <li>identify threats to internal and external validity</li> <li>describe methods for collecting data</li> <li>organize and summarize data using descriptive statistics</li> <li>describe measurement reliability and validity</li> <li>apply, calculate, and interpret univariate statistical procedures</li> <li>use statistical software for computing univariate statistics</li> </ol><p><strong>Please note:</strong> This Certificate may be completed online. Newly admitted students choosing to complete this program exclusively via UCF online classes may enroll with a reduction in campus-based fees. International students (F or J visa) are required to enroll in a full-time course load of 9 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters. Only 3 of the 9 credit hours may be taken in a completely online format.
