            "description": "<p><span>The <strong>Risk Management &amp; Insurance (RMI) BSBA</strong> prepares students for in-demand careers in the insurance, risk management and financial services industries. Offered by the <a href=\"https://business.ucf.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barry S. Miller College of Business </a>and the <a href=\"https://business.ucf.edu/center-for-risk-management-insurance-education/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center for RMI Education</a>, the program combines a strong business foundation with specialized coursework in risk assessment, insurance operations, regulatory environments, data analytics and financial risk management. Students gain knowledge of risk financing strategies, risk transfer and retention decisions, and major insurance products, including property and casualty, life, health, disability income, long-term care, annuities, retirement and social insurance.</span></p>\r\n<p><span>Through <strong>internships, case studies, experiential learning and engagement with industry professionals</strong>, students develop practical skills that complement their academic preparation. Graduates are equipped with analytical, critical-thinking, communication and problem-solving abilities that prepare them for careers in underwriting, claims, brokerage, consulting, catastrophe analytics, compliance, employee benefits, enterprise risk management, reinsurance, financial planning and related fields.</span></p>\r\n<p><span>Designed to meet evolving workforce needs, the RMI BSBA program <strong>emphasizes career readiness and real-world application</strong>. Additionally, 12 of the 30 credit hours completed at UCF must be from the department or school in which the student majors.</li> <li>For students seeking a double major within the College of Business, a maximum of 6 hours of Required Courses for the Major or Restricted Electives may count towards another business major. Not eligible for a double degree with another College of Business Administration major.</li> <li>A maximum of 6 hours of Core Requirements or Restricted Electives may count towards another degree program or minor.</li> <li>Students in the Risk Management &amp; Insurance major must maintain a 2.75 or higher cumulative Grade Point Average in all 3000 level or higher Risk Management &amp; Insurance courses taken at UCF and a 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA in all College of Business courses taken at UCF. Failure to maintain the required GPAs will result in the student being placed on Lack of Progress in the major and/or College. If a student on Lack of Progress fails to achieve the minimum required GPA in the subsequent term of enrollment, the student will be dismissed from the Risk Management &amp; Insurance major and/or College of Business. Students dismissed from their major are not eligible to declare a minor in the major they were dismissed from. Students who change their major while on Lack of Progress in the Major and take courses in a subsequent term of enrollment are not permitted to return to the major or minor for which they were placed on Lack of Progress. A student who is dismissed may seek consideration for readmittance into the College or major by submitting an academic appeal through the College indicating the reasons for academic difficulties and positive plans for achieving the required GPA.
